About
Long Story Short
Hello! I'm Chloë Pienaar, a Wildlife/Adventure Filmmaker with a degree in Cinema Production and Outdoor Adventure Leadership. I'm passionate about creating films that interweave diverse narratives to evoke emotion, spark change, and nurture compassion for our biodiverse planet. Growing up, I moved between America and South Africa. My two homes could not have been more different, and I am grateful for the diverse perspectives I have experienced and how they have helped shape me. I studied documentary filmmaking in Ithaca, NY. The culmination of my studies was an Outdoor Adventure Leadership semester which entailed spending four months of immersion training learning how to live in and navigate through diverse terrains, ranging from deserts, snow-capped mountains, forests, and icy rivers, enduring extreme temperatures through unmarked terrains without modern technology. This training honed my survival skills and deepened my ability to lead and work within groups. I followed this with a solo backpacking expedition through the Alps, where I carried all gear and supplies, independently navigating by foot and engaging in wild camping amidst snow-capped mountains for 500 km for 6 weeks, completing the Swiss section of the Via Alpina. Now making my home in South Africa I am open to telling the stories that need to be told on this continent and as such I am dedicated to lending my energy to projects that align with my goal of serving the planet. If you want to know more about my work or you have a project you think I may align with, let's chat. Head over to my contact page and drop me an email.
